End of Crummock Water

Early start for us all to get ready for a days swimming. With rucksacks packed with swim gear we headed out to walk to the top of Crummuck waters. Nice sunny day in the lakes. Had a nice walk while chatting to some of the others on the weekend to get to know them. Quick pit stop while getting changes before we headed out for the first part of the swim. 3K run down to the stopping point for lunch. Bit of wind created some small waves to start with but these went. Water was surprisingly warm once you got in and got going.
Had lunch and then walked up to the highest waterfall in the lakes. A few of them decided to have a dip in the plunge pool at the bottom of the waterfall. Turned out to be very cold.
Wetsuits had dried by the time we got back ready for the last 1.5K swim to the far end of the lake. Again a nice swim. Glad to be able to see the bottom at near to the shore. Not something we get at Portie beach. Took the camera in its underwater housing. Fortunately it went in one of the support canoes. Here is J coming into the final beach. Got changed and headed back to the hostel for some food and an early night. Great days swimming and walking.

Walked 10K and swam 4.5K.
