Dog, sand, frisbee, joy...

A visit to my parents in East Lothian today afforded another ever-welcome opportunity for Ella, our Patterdale- Jack Russell cross terrier, to exercise on part of her UK-wide beach estate (she owns the lot, you know). I like this photo of Ella returning eagerly with her aero-ring frisbee on Fernieness beach, near Longniddry. The predominant lines in the foreground and background are all horizontal. Only Ella has a vertical axis, and the effect is exacerbated by her ears which are sticking up on account of the breeze. The frisbee adds an artificial element, an oval focal point in the centre and the only splash of colour. More importantly, Ella and we all had a lovely spot of fun and fresh air. The visit was completed by a few minutes sitting in the car, drinking tea and watching gannets diving for fish only a few 10's of metres below the low water mark. Special!
