False Widow Spider?
I went to see how many bees had emerged from the bee house this afternoon and as I cleared the shrubbery from in front of it, I was confronted by this little beastie which had a body about 10mm long. I immediately thought of the False Widow Spider, particularly as a friend of ours was bitten on the ankle by one ten days ago. She is on antibiotics and her ankle is still a real mess. I decided to give it a wide berth while I checked it out. According to Google, I think it is either a Walnut Orb-Weave spider which also give you quite a nip, or it is the dreaded False Widow! I would certainly appreciate any comments regarding this particular creature from any knowledgeable blipper!
