There's not really any way to sugar coat the climb from Chapieux to the Bonhomme Refuge - you finish breakfast, put your pack on and begin climbing. Over the next 3 hours you ascend nearly a 1000m vertically, mostly at 30-40 degree slopes, and it takes it toll. The clients were very glad to get there and support the warden's cake making business - I then had the job of motivating them for the 5 hour descent to Les Contamines.
Before that I took the opportunity, coffee in hand, to grab some solitude and today's blip.
