Disaster movie

12:30 Heatwave!!!! Sitting under a tree, shading from glorious sunshine, munching lunch outside work

3:30 Floodnado!!! Massive RGU golfing umbrella to hand, I deployed the timeless Gregory's Girl zig zag walk jog manoeuvre on route to the car at the VERY FAR end of the campus in the (admitedly stupid and vain) hope of avoiding being toasted by the lightening accompanying the massive thunder storm. Letting out a continuous sigh of relief lasting at least a full minute when I reached the safety of the car, it was time to put pedal to the metal (????) and negotiate any flying tornado sharks also commuting home. Within the next hour of frequent encounters with stranded cars with floodwater up to their bonnets, I had done five U turns to avoid puddles that had turned into lochs. And the rain it kept on raging. I finally made it to Europe's biggest suburb to pick up the kids then it was all about trying to actually see out the window as we drove on through the torrential rain in Aberdeenshire.

Totally loved every minute of it. In my head, Godzilla was roaming Aberdeen and my emergency U turns were vintage starsky and hutch. Which of course they weren't. Love, love, love disaster movies, cheesier the better.
