Random Act of Kindness
So, a young person in my little South Cambridgeshire village gave me this, it is his Secondary School sweatshirt!
I was having a bad day today and it is well known in the village that I carry around comforters and have done on and off depending upon my state of wellbeing ever since I was a wee child.
I took a visit to village shop at around lunch time with Grandpa and got somewhat heated up (as you do in supermarkets!) and noticed that I had left my comforter at home.
I started to get very anxious and needed the comforter as I have some emotional problems related to an extremely traumatic and disturbing childhood whilst growing up in a very inadequate foster care system.
The young boy who's name I do not know, saw me in stress and knowing who I was and that I use comforters proceeded to take off his school sweatshirt, handed it to me and said "here, have this... it will help you!" all in front of his teenage school friends. I was shocked and said, "well... thanks!" and Grandpa quizzed the young school boy to make sure this was okay and he simply said "It doesn't really matter, to be honest, you need it more than I do and I will just purchase a new one with my pocket money."
He then proceeded to the exit, smiled and left the shop.
I tightly held onto the new comforter all the way home and felt so blessed that this dear teenage lad had done such an amazing deed for me and all in front of his school friends.
It was so sweet that I cried for a while at bed time last night and the blue sweatshirt he so kindly gave to me is on my lap as I type the text for this blip. It will be my second most important possession after my old Primary School leavers t-shirt from July '99 which is defaced (as my mother likes to say) by all my class friends of that time, oh, the joy! :-D
This sort of random act of kindness and general positive attitude of people is the sole reason why I love living in South Cambridgeshire! :-)
Oh, and it is my 27th Birthday today! hint, nudge, wink ;-)
