bPay has landed!
So, this morning I received my new bPay wristbands from Barclays.
Being the techno buff that I am, I just had to test these out so stayed up till midnight on launch night and grabbed myself two of these beauties, one white and one black. Got 50% off each one by using the mates rates coupon on the bPay twitter page.
Have been bPaying my way around Cambridge City Centre this afternoon, and although the band was declined in Paperchase I was easily able to buy myself and Grandpa coffee and lunch in Cafe Nero, some insect repellant spray in Boots for the pesky little bugs that are everywhere at the moment and then finished off my spree by purchasing some milk and other essentials in the somewhat heaving and overcrowded Trumpington Waitrose on the way back home.
All in all, I love this darn thing. It works the same as a prepaid debit card without ongoing charges et al and would be perfect for youngsters/teenagers to have a pre amount loaded per day to spend on food, cosmetics etc.
It's not quite universal yet so it would be advisable to carry some money on you as a back up - I sound like i've been paid by Barclays to advertise this device, not the case ;-) I am just very impressed as were the astonished shop assistants and other customers.
Go to the bPay website and try it out for yourselves.
When it is this fun and exciting, I am all for a cashless society! :-)
