Get Together, Abergavenny
“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?”
A.A.Milne "Winnie The Pooh"
After a fairly busy two weeks on a project due for delivery yesterday, which I managed at 6pm, decided on a more relaxed day today. Eventually surfaced to have breakfast before lunchtime! Can't miss out on any meal possibilities! Still have some follow-up to do on the project over the weekend, but I can take it at a more leisurely pace.
Invitation on Facebook to an exhibition opening by the delightful Jill Hobbs, so decided to get out in the fresh air and go in search of coffee and cake. Plenty of interesting art at Craft Renaissance, unfortunately no coffee or cake [well it was an exhibition opening].
Jill to the rescue again, recommended a place in Abergavenny, Get Together, where she also has some of her paintings. We thought we may be a little late, arriving just before 5pm in Abergavenny as most places were closing. The singing from the Priory Church was clearly welcoming us [actually the choir practising for a performance tonight, when I was told the singing would be even better!]. So we carried on up through town with renewed optimism to the coffee shop, opposite the Post Office - it's open until 6pm, lifesaver!
Settled in for the long awaited coffee and cake, a delicious treat at the end of the afternoon. One of the benefits of arriving so late in the afternoon was the undivided attention of the staff and our choice of seating, although it wasn't empty even at that time. Plenty of leather sofas and armchairs to relax in. Time to think about what to have for dinner tonight.
