Miles

Today's highlight was very definitely **not** the express train we took between Narbonne and Bordeaux. Our carriage was only vestigially airconditioned, plus as the carriage next door had been condemned it was also overrun and our seat reservations were not applicable.

Anyway, things looked up once we got to Bordeaux, and checked in to the hotel. A short rest, and then off for a wander. What a handsome city! We rocked up to Restaurant Miles - a newish venture about which we saw a write up on Facebook, posted by one of the happy couple (see tomorrow's blip). It certainly lived up to our expectations. Absolutely amazing tasting menu, and we let them choose the wines too. The extra is one of the standout dishes - some cured mackerel with a melon sauce, which was beautifully complemented by a chosen wine, which - I think - was a Riesling.

After dinner, we met up with some friends at a roof top bar - in time to see some fairly spectacular light (see extra).
