A day in the NW of Orkney mainland.
Birsay first; we missed the tide - not by much but even if we'd made it across to the Brough we certainly wouldn't have made it back..! So we climbed the cliffs, watched the seals, admired the crashing waves.
A quick picnic lunch later and an aborted attempt to get to the Kitchener monument (we timed the gap between the showers all wrong).
Then to Twatt for the obligatory photos - they've removed all signage - booo! So we had to resort to the Twatt Church bench for our photo call.
And to Brodgar; cue another hissy fit - just like last Easter...! - the place was rammed with cruise liner punters so hardly the atmospheric experience I've had on previous visits.
And then home for an hour outside in the shelter from the breeze with a cold tin before the usual feeding / bathing routine kicked off in
