Saw the water-lily bloom ...

I used to love the poem The Lady of Shalott, and I still love water-lilies. The poem? Perhaps my taste has changed ... The darkly wonderful lily is in the pond in Benmore Gardens, and the flowers are just appearing. The dark leaves against the faintly lurid green of the pond-weed seemed particularly appealing late this afternoon; I took several photos and by the time I'd finished the midges were coming out and it was time to go.
