Atlantis

After yesterday's hiccup, and after depositing the space agnostics at Universal,  made it out to Cape Canaveral today without a hitch.

Last time we were in Florida we were lucky enough to witness, from a distance, the last ever launch of this space craft. ST-135 was the last ever launch of any Space Shuttle and after her return and decommissioning she was placed here on display at Kennedy Space Center. For those of a certain age and level of geek it's a spectacular and jaw-dropping exhibition and, alongside the trip out to see the Saturn V launch vehicle* that powered the Apollo Space Program and kept me all artistically inspired during the 70s, it helped keep a huge smile on my face the whole day.

There's an Atlas V launch scheduled less than twelve hours from now (saw it sitting on its launch pad during the bus tour) though not sure how much of that we'll see being sixty miles away. That, on top of the Pluto fly past earlier today and all the Space X activity going on at the complex, all seems to be keeping NASA busy over on the Space Coast.

You can keep your theme parks, mice and castles, this, as far as I'm concerned, is your Magic Kingdom.

Off to eat my genuine and authentic dehydrated Space Ice cream now.

*Extra pic added.

And... Even more...
