Times Of My Life

By CarolB

Out for the count!

We woke this morning to the sound of absolutely torrential thunder rain.  Looked outside and discovered that there was a veritable little burn in full spate, running down the driveway of the house across from us, and flowing over the pavement and down into our drive.

G was supposed to be going camping, for his brother-in-law to be's Stag weekend.  I was heading to Burntisland to bring the kids back for a wee holiday.  However, due to colleague being off work with her daughter's broken leg, I was first going into the office for a couple of hours to take messages off the machine, and get the post out.

Got out of bed, discovered that the niggling upper back pain I've experienced the last few days had translated itself over night into a totally frozen shoulder. Agony.

Went to work, sweating with the effort of trying to change gear when driving, and just about swearing out loud every time I forgot and tried to reach for something.  Even stuffing envelopes was excruciating.

Got down for the kids, and brought them back.  Rain stopped.  G came home from work and packed up the camping gear, and headed off (nutter).  Me and the kids looked at the trailers for kid's movies on tomorrow, and decided on The Minions.

So, under threat of us not going if they didn't go straight to sleep, I had no bother at all getting them into bed.  Went back up to check on them, and discovered his Hairiness had bunked in with them!

In the picture, Arlo is at the front with Winnie the Pooh; Ida is at the back, almost completely covered by the quilt except for a wee lock of dark hair.

I am now going to take a couple of Ibuprofen, have a glass of wine, chuck the dog out in the garden, and hit the hay early.  A whole weekend on my own with 2 kids and a dog?  Massive reserves of sleep required!

By the way, you will probably get a notification saying that this is my 365th blip; it is not, strictly speaking.  My first blip was on 26th July last year, but after I took out membership I back-blipped some earlier entries.  My own target has always been 365 consecutive blips: after which I will turn my attention to other projects and not be so determined to post each day.

Happy filthy, wet, miserable, summer weekend everybody!
