Norfolk to Cambridgeshire to Hertfordshire
And back to Cambridgeshire. A super busy day.
Up fairly early, and with a few bits packed up we headed back to Cambridge for our first stop at 12. here Jon & I had a wander round the park. It wasn't pleasant as they had an 'open day' on to share their plans for the future with the public. I saw very few 'public' and none of the newly recruited wardens which were deemed essential to the new structure. 20 they had said would be recruited and now over 4 months on they have 5. One of those is the brother of the Ranger who mysteriously was not made redundant, and one was previously a volunteer in the office folding leaflets. I had 'words' with the awful woman selling cakes at her pop up cafe, as she said she didn't need a hygiene certificate. I'm going to ring South Cambs DC about it.
After more chatting to residents we bumped into on our walk, we dressed ready for the Wedding Festival our final destination. On our way, we dropped in on Manda in Ware. One hour wasn't long enough to catch up, but was better than nothing.
We then proceeded to Isabel & Richard's celebration, following their wedding on Thursday. It was beautiful weather, and the location perfect for a festival themed wedding. Lovely to see the happy couple enjoying the company of so many friends. It was nice to catch up with the whole family who I have known for 35 years....just saying that makes me feel old!
The highlight of this day had to be the ice cream van - I was surprised to see perhaps more older men in the queue than kids! My boys went back for seconds! A lovely celebration for a clearly very happy 'made for each other' couple.
A lovely day. Back to Cambridge tonight. Back to Norfolk tomorrow - with a full trailer!
