All that is good
My house is full of sick people.
Harper still has that nasty cough, Andre came down sick yesterday with head cold type thing and sore throat. Mar has been a bit chesty for a week now but i think that's more his asthma flaring up than being sick and now! Ho ho Now..... As i write this i hear kanye coughing in his bed.
I'm the only one up. They're all asleep - so they should be. They were all out to it by 8. Good hearty dinner of roast chicken and veges, Hot showers with olbas oil to destuff their sinuses (when you add a few drops to the shower while the water is on hot it creates a lot of steam, then they get in turn the temp down and voila bit steamy room of eucalyptus goodness to breathe in)
I am up because its quiet, my house smells like fresh bread - see above ( i may have been sneaking in some extra seed/grains more than i usually do into the bread for their well being but shh don't tell them they'll find the seeds) and i can actually hear myself think so the list making of things i need to get and do and remember can begin.
Ive been juicing up a storm these past few days, i think i should open up shop. I like to try use more natural stuff with sick family before i hit the pharmacy for the strong meds.
I want to try help their bodies help themselves get better before i buy stuff to eliminate bugs. i think the body does better if you try to help it along. Obviously sometimes meds are needed and that cant be helped i mean for example with Harpers croup and Mar with strep recently . I'm all for modern meds, they work.
When i juice- typically its in the morning after yoga but when theyre sick its in the afternoon and dinner too.
I use a lot of apples and pears- they contain quercetin which is an inflammatory and assists with respiratory health would ya believe? Maybe thats where an apple a day comes from perhaps?
I use lemons of course- antibacterial and all
Oranges -your daily dose of vit c plus potassium for re-hydration
Broccoli- anti oxidant, anti inflammatory and anti bacterial (who knew?)
Beetroot- full of good stuff, helps your blood circulate and cleanses your digestive system
Carrots- beta carotene also detoxifies, good anti viral and anti bacterial.
Celery- contains coumarin- anti oxidant, helps white blood cells, diuretic
I sometimes use pineapple which has bromelain - good for your tum and anti bacterial, sometimes kale- the most nutritious of the brassica family ( related to brocco) full of iron, vit c, selenium aaannd magnesium.
I try to do 3-4 veg and 2 fruits that way they're all getting the good stuff with the sweet stuff too. Plus when your sick you don't feel like eating as much but feel like drinking more.
For coughing i use a herbal remedy called broncol- its pretty awesome not so great tasting but all boys enjoy it so thats a plus. It has irish moss, peppermint, friars balsalm, aniseed and liquorice. Its really soothing on the throat and its an expectorant so helps the lungs propel that stuff out which Harper did tonight, he coughed and sneezed and little bits of bug filled moisture landed on my face. Thanks baby!
So yeah. Busy busy. As always.
Kanye was home he had seizures last night which are now explained by sickness.
Mar had an excellent day, hes become good friends with a boy in his class who he was with last year, the boy is similar to mar in that he doesn't have a lot of friends so its cool that they play. Mar said he was his best friend. They sit together in class too.
Anyways i should probably sleep. So to end tonights rambling here is a link to a chameleon popping bubbles.
