Uncomfortably numb

I met my old friend Lizzie for a burrito lunch and a couple of IPA beers (pictured after we'd finished one pint). Then in the afternoon I met my friend Izzy who I've been playing badminton with for a few years. We had some drinks outside enjoying the nice weather before I had to leave in time to get back to my parents' house for dinner.

Just before dinner I suddenly got numbness in my bottom lip around the area of my toothache. It was very strange and the pain in the tooth rapidly increased over the next hour or so. We phoned the NHS Direct helpline and it was clear I had a tooth infection. Unfortunately the emergency dental clinic was fully booked out so I had to make do with painkillers.
