ardencraig gardens rothesay isle of bute
This is one of the 17 "Glorious gardens of Argyll and Bute" where winters are mild and relatively frost free and the soil is generally acidic
This walled garden originally formed part of the larger layout designed by Percy Cane for the owners of Ardencraig House. It was acquired by the town council in 1970 and is still council run. It has been developed to create a propagation education and show garden with extensive bedding and fuchsia displays. It also has aviaries. Ardencraig was refurbished and reopened 2007 and is superbly maintained.
If you visit Bute and like plants go also to Mount Stuart gardens and the Ascog Fernery
