Ben Uri
Nipped in to the Ben Uri exhibition at Somerset House. It is celebrating 100 years of the gallery which collects works by Jewish artists. There were some super paintings on show, including stuff by Frank Auerbach and Bomberg.
There was one particularly harrowing drawing, shown here as an additional photo, by Leo Haas. Its called "Children on the way to Auschwitz". its not a good quality snap because of the reflection, but just look at their little faces and their holding hands. So shocking. It brought me up with a jolt.
And outside was the antidote to my angst - children playing on the beach by the fountains in the courtyard. I think this is one of my favourite spots in London.
Then I dropped in to see Salt of the Earth - the new documentary film about Salgado, the photographer who specialises in mono. Lots of harrowing pictures of genocides and famines in Africa. But redemption at the end.
Off to watch the Tour deF on the telly now, Blipmates.
