STOP PRESS: the population of Edinburgh was woken this morning by such a strange bright light that they feared the worst and inundated the 999 switchboard with anxious calls. The military were forced to put out a message blaming the sun for a frightening assault on the Scottish Capital. They said that the danger would pass by lunch time and normality would ensue thereafter.

Oh but it was lovely to walk to our Sunday watering hole on a path dappled in sunshine and shadows, without taking the precaution of carrying an umbrella.
Afterwards it was possible to sit outside and read the Sunday papers - no need this morning for a jacket, scarf and gloves.

We said 'Auf wiedersehen' this morning at the Sunday watering hole to our favourite waitress as she leaves to return to Germany.

It transpires that she is not just a waitress but a qualified baker and has been asked to pass on some of her skills to the bakers at Loudon's before she leaves to manage a coffee house in her home town in the Motherland. This is a blip of her baker alter ego.
We will miss her, she figured hugely in making our Sunday experience so pleasant.
