Follow the Leader...!

I was amused to see these geese swimming in strict formation on Killingworth Lake this morning. (I was also interested to note that the rearmost bird looks different - is it a juvenile I wonder?)

A couple of minutes later their orderly swim was disrupted when an angry swan came and frightened them away, even though they were at least 20 yards from its cygnets. I tried to capture that episode but it didn't come out very well, you'd have needed video to do it justice I think :)
