Old Skibbereen
Another day, another trip to Skibbereen - me to do a history walk, Himself to do a workshop on mini book making. A good crowd gathered for the walk but the Heavens opened just as we had all gathered and in the end we had to repair to the town hall and have a virtual walk - a shame as your man was very knowledgeable. Most info was focused on the Famine, Skibbereen having being especially ferociously hit and pretty shocking information it was too.
By the time the walk had finished and we emerged into the streets, the rain had eased and I decided to do my own exploration of the back streets. Lots of interesting little details - old floor tiles, mouldering warehouses, decrepit windows, submerged steps, old postboxes. A door was open in this old building down by the river and I glimpsed the encaustic tiles and just had to have a peer inside - I've always wanted a floor like this. Faded glory. Just behind this building was waste land and a cat and a heron were amicably sharing a treat of some kind - see extra.
I also revisited some of the art exhibitions, ate a cheese toastie and then collected Himself who had had an excellent creative time and made an admirable little book.
