At the Lakefront....

Tom & I went downtown to the Lakefront to see what was happening at the water & air show today. We stayed further South from the main beach, as the traffic was so heavy & everything was pretty well jam-packed with parked cars. We opted to drive down by the Pier Point Light House & watch from there--that's the beauty of taking the motorcycle as we were able to drive past all the cars & right to the edge of the walkway, since you can always find a tiny spot to park the bike.
We watched the acrobatic team of pilots doing their rolls & dives, & got a big kick out of the US Coast Guard boat chasing down all the "speeders" on the water--because of the show they were strictly enforcing the "no wake zone" in the Harbor--so apparently even on a boat you're not safe from getting a ticket....& there were A LOT of speedboats going really FAST!! Well, until they got a ticket anyway!
There are areas along the lake that have nesting boxes for the birds & lots of native plants for the butterflies & bees, so my blip from today was taken as we walked along the hike/bike path along the water. I thought the orange flowers were so pretty. I put some pictures into my extras in case you'd like to see a couple pics of the planes, the flowers at the Lakefront, & of course, the "high speed chase" action of the US Coast Guard! Ha!
