The Art Gallery Wall
Realism is the style that Joe Public regard as "real art", where the subject on the canvas looks very much like it appears in real life. From a little distance everything looks "real" but up close you'll see it's an illusion created by skillful use of paint, of color and tone. The artist employs perspective to create an illusion of reality, setting the composition and lighting to make the most of the subject.
Photorealism, Super Realism, Sharp Focus Realism, Hyper Realism, label it what you will then scratch you head as to decide what the actual difference is between the styles. In the end, they are there to create an illusion of reality through the medium of paint so the result looks more like a large, sharply focused photo than anything else.
Photorealism is a style which often seems more real than reality, with detail down to the last grain of sand and wrinkle on someone's face.
Having passed this building on too many numerous occasions, I am mystified why I never noticed these windows before. They remind me of portraits or photographs hanging on a wall.
While this photograph is not abstract, to have significance for anyone other than the photographer, it needs to have something that'll retain the viewer's attention, draw them in, keep them looking, and generate an emotional response. I think this photo does that. But Hey, thats just me!
