Gobi Desert - Ongi Monastery

This was formerly the largest University for Lamas in Mongolia, with up to 800 students at any one time. It was destroyed by the Stalinist purges of the 1930s.

The temple itself has been rebuilt, but the ruins stretch over a large area.
