Special Girl
28th July 2015:
This evening Bronagh and her dad Jim called to Lucan to greet Br Michael Newman, Prior of the SJOG House, where we stay when we are in Malawi. He is visiting for a few days.
On March 17 last Br Michael watched over the installation of her pump in a small remote village in the Lusangazi area outside Mzuzu.
Here she is with Michael, having a go on one of our model pumps.

Bronagh’s Sharing
Bronagh is a young girl from Cork. She is a bright student and on the occasion of her First Holy Communion, she was given many gifts from family and friends.
But this young girl on her big day, wanted to be part of a bigger world scene! So after consulting her Dad, whose friend is Br Michael Newman, a Brother of St John of God in Malawi – decided to give some of the cash she received on her important day to the poor in Northern Malawi.
And so a Well was constructed by the women and men of a small isolated community 4 Kilometers north of the city of Mzuzu – supported by the workers from the ‘Wells for Zoe’ team based in Malawi.
Then on St Patrick’s Day 2015 the well was completed.
A young boy from the village started to work the pump....and quickly it produced cool, clean and clear water for the villagers to use for irrigation, washing and cooking. This well will produce clean water for decades supported by the ‘Wells for Zoe’ people. Pictures below show Br Michael surrounded by villagers thrilled at their new well.....Bronagh’s Well
How many folk have a well named after them?
Bronagh has!!
