Killer Hornet

After the rain, I nipped out for a garden safari. While I was taking some bee shots, this monster, a European Hornet, flew in, grabbed a bee and grappled with it before carrying it off! What is going on? I saw 2 of them displaying this aggressive behaviour. I would not like to be stung by one, they are 3 or 4 times the size of an average bee!
