Excursion Day #wa2015

Today was a chance to make new friends, as the excursion I had chosen was not one that any of my good friends from either Oxford or Eurasia had chosen, so I got to talk to some new friends. This is Joseph Noel, the General Secretary of FOCUS (Fellowship of Christian University Students) South Sudan. The world is a small place, and I was hoping to meet him here, as he is a good friend of a former colleague of mine, who heads up The Leprosy Mission South Sudan. So we had our photo taken together so that he can show Yousif when he gets back to Juba. You may remember that I said that we had been celebrating the affiliations of new movements. Well, FOCUS SS is one of the 9 student movements which affiliated to IFES at this World Assembly. At last World Assembly, the country of South Sudan did not exist, and those involved were part of FOCUS Sudan, which had been affiliated for some time. It was wonderful to welcome them into the global Fellowship that is IFES.

Our excursion was a busy day, with a trip to a Mexican University, then to an archaeological site called Teopanzolco and into the centre of Cuernavaca for a little souvenir shopping. Really lovely day!
