Fountain
Decided today to take a photo of a local landmark, always referred to locally simply as 'the Fountain'.
My new blip journey is already proving educational - I'd never before today read the information plaque adjacent which offers the following nuggets of information:-
Erected in 1870; repaired 1995. Built of sandstone from Bannockburn and granite from Aberdeen.
Apparently the cast iron heron on the top originally threw a jet of water from it's beak into the top basin; legend has it that the heron was accidentally dispatched to Alexandria, Egypt before returning to it's rightful perch in Alexandria, Scotland.
In the 30 years since I first saw it, I've never seen any water in it!
