A High Flying Sunrise

At over 35,000 feet above the earth,  two thousand miles away from home,, we started to see the sky go from black to lovely hues of pink, purple and gold. Then the sun began to inch above the horizon.

I didn't get the best view as it rose but mom, who was sitting in the window seat, saw the entire thing. I was lucky enough to see it here as is it shone a fiery red ball just as it was visible in its entirety. It was a captivating, almost spiritual, experience for us. Something I'll never forget.
