Feeding the Lemur's
We went to the Safari Wilderness Ranch in Lakeland, Florida today. When we arrived, they loaded us on an old school bus with the top cut off (covered with tarp) so that you can get views from all sides. The "drive" took about 2.5 hours and was totally awesome. Got to see all kinds of wildlife from Africa, Asia, and America.
At the end of the tour, for an extra fee, you are able to get in a huge cage full of Lemur's and feed them grapes. I ended up doing this and went in with a family with a young child. One of the Lemur's jumped and landed on the kid scaring the crap out of him (it was actually quite funny to watch but felt bad for the kid) and he wanted to leave. So I got to have all the Lemur's to myself for a good twenty minutes. They were queued up waiting for me to hand out sliced up grapes. Each got a bit of the fruit and of course I was trying to take pictures in between. The picture taking part was a nightmare because the Lemurs were as interested in the camera as they were in the food. Two Lemur's were playing tug of war with the camera strap at one point but fortunately got bored quickly. Quite an experience and will do this again one day!
A couple of extra pictures are posted for today (had a tough time deciding which to blip). Hope you like them.
