Common Darter

Went to have my hair cut and the hairdresser's husband was asking me about the caterpillars on his Solomon's Seal. Having identified them for him, he told me about a lochan nearby with dragonflies. I went straight there and was delighted to find Common Darters making the most of the sun. This was a young beauty getting his breath back before chasing some more females. Was delighted to get a shot (extras) of a male dipping a female while she lays! There's even a drip from her dropping into the pool! Very exciting!
So exciting I didn't even mind being attacked by the clegs, well, I did really because they draw blood and hurt. Threw a few oaths in their direction !
