We had a great afternoon today, celebrating Yorkshire Day. We went to a garden party in the grounds of the Minster. We met a friend by chance so Katie got to go on the rides with her friend, had their faces painted with Yorkshire roses, ate ice cream made in our town. The parents followed suit in keeping up the Yorkshireness by whinging about the prices ("It's 'ow much!?") and making sure they got full value! They played "Bat the Rat" - Katie proved quite proficient at that. And they won Yorkshire flags and teddy bears on a couple of the stalls. We sat in the Minster as the children ate their ginormous ice creams before Katie watched a Yorkshire folk dance and listened to some folk music.

She and I then headed to the theatre to see their activities. Katie enjoyed marking where she lives, where she was born. She did the "what I love about Yorkshire" (the beaches and the tea"), listened to some live music and declined the story telling on account of not being told what story it was!

We are of course going to have giant Yorkshire puddings for tea tonight.  Happy Yorkshire day, from here in God's Own County. Where in true form its been raining a lot of the afternoon!
