Yorkshire Day!
Staycation Day 3. - Roquetas de Mar
Today is Yorkshire Day and the White Rose is part of my blip today as I could not let this day pass without a mention. Unfortunately the roses are not at their best just now.
We went to Roquetas this morning for breakfast and had a stroll down to the Marina area.
This is the next village on the coast road towards Almeria. Once a small fishing village, it still retains it's fishing traditions but since 1960/70's it has become a popular holiday destination with many Hotels and Apartments. The beach is several kms long with a sandier beach than we have in Almerimar.
The Marina boast fishing and leisure berths, with a new building in the middle with new bars and cafes.
In extra pictures you will see the 16th Century Santa Ana Castle and the marina, which has been refurbished over the last few years. It boast a very long level promenade, approx 12 km end to end with a cycling track running most of it's length.
During winter months the resort is a haven for German, Dutch, Brits etc. who want to get away from their cold winters.
After a late lunch, we are relaxing and are going out to eat at an Italian Chiringuito.
Thank you for the stars for my Motril blip.
