The Day I Went To Sea
Well we are here, but what an exhausting day!
We got up at 3am and left the house at around 3.40. The journey to Dover was easy and we started boarding our ferry just after 6am. We arrived at Calais at about 8am then drove straight down to Le Mans so the boys could show us the stadium and the Mulsanne Straight ( basically a straight road) . We stopped for lunch near Le Mans then carried on our journey down to Noirmoutier in Brittany which seemed to take forever through towns and villages and winding roads.
We eventually arrived at the camp site at about 5.30 (UK time).
It feels like nothing short of a miracle that we are here. Fear and anxiety have prevented me from travelling for 14 years. I never imagined I would be with my family, so far from home, looking out on a beautiful beach and looking forward to some sunny weather. Doing the fearless flying course last year made me realise that I could cope with not being in control all the time. The journey wasn't without moments of anxiety but I had the children to distract me and it has taken me a long time to really WANT to travel (plus lots of nagging from A&P) so at last I felt that the end result was worth the risk. And it is!
It's a beautiful place, right on the beach. The photo is the view from our tent.
We are all absolutely exhausted so I think we might have a couple of glasses of wine, some changes from the on- site food place and get some sleep. We have limited wifi so commenting and blipping may be sporadic. Bear with me blip pals.
