Forde Abbey

We went to Forde Abbey in deepest west Dorset, driving through narrow sunken lanes to get there. When we arrived we found it was their annual charity day with classic cars, bouncy castles, trad jazz, venison burgers, ice creams - the works. Not quite the sedate amble round the grounds we had envisioned but still. An extra £2 each got us round the house/former abbey, which was quite interesting and relatively peaceful, as here in the old cloisters.
