Cerne Abbas Giant

We enjoyed showing our friends from Bristol the sights of central Dorset, strangely free from tourists. It was a nice day so everyone was at the seaside. But look what they're  missing - the splendid club-wielding and otherwise well-equipped Cerne giant, generally reckoned to be over 1000 years old but I like to think it was there before the Romans. I love that countless generations of locals must have kept the chalk figure intact, despite its d unChristian, uncivilized appearance.
