World Orienteering Championships, Sprint Final

Wow what an exciting event this evening in Forres!  

After we had competed in Achagour earlier in the day in the 6 Day Event (with mixed results!), we had a quick turnaround to go back to Forres to watch the final of the Sprint Event - 45 women and 45 men set off at minute intervals with the fastest qualifiers going off last.  We had six GB athletes in the final, which in itself is very impressive.  This is Kris, our final runner coming in to the finish from the final control, with some supporters in the background.  I think you can see the agony on his face! He finished in a creditable 8th place, just 13 seconds down on the winner (!) with the top guys well packed in at the top.
