S.S. Bigwin
Edward and I traveled up north today and visited a number of northern towns and villages in Muskoka and Haliburton. One of our stops was Dorset where we saw the wooden steam ship S.S. Bigwin coming in to dock. The ship was built in 1910 under another name and toured Lake Muskoka but was bought and had it's name changed to the S.S.Bigwin in 1925. It was used to deliver people to the Bigwin Resort on Bigwin Island in the Lake of Bays Lake.It has carried some famous people including Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Louis Armstrong and Winston Churchill. It was restored recently and is now operating from the Dorset site. Dorset is one of my most favourite places to visit in the summer time!
