River Spirit
Several years ago Clackmannanshire Council commissioned a series of works by the sculptor Andy Scott (of The Kelpies fame) to be displayed around the 'wee county'. This one, 'River Spirit', was the first to be erected in 2008 and shows a female figure arising from a tree trunk and holding a representation of the River Forth above her head. Her hands and hair represent foliage.
This particular sculpture, like quite a few on the Andy Scott Sculpture Trail around Clackmannanshire, sits on a roundabout and it's not always easy to find a nearby place to park or get sufficiently close to the thing to photograph without being knocked six feet into the air by the 'boy racers' who treat Clackmannanshire's roads like the track at Silverstone. Nevertheless, I've now ticked another one off on my list. Self-satisfaction abounds,
‘River Spirit’ was the first of Andy Scott’s sculptures to be erected in Clackmannanshire in 2008 and at nearly six metres high, depicts a female figure growing out of a tree base with her foliage hands raising a profile of the River Forth above her head - See more at: http://www.clackmannanshiretourism.com/visitor-info/public-art/the-andy-scott-sculpture-tour/#sthash.gm96b3JV.dpuf
