cone flower (again)

When I looked down at the pattern on this flower head, I thought I would write something about Leonardo Fibonacci gardening in his 12thC Italian ….. garden.

Then when I checked with uncle Wiki, it would appear that the idea of Fibonacci numbers determining patterns in nature is far more complex than I imagined - and involves lots of very big sums.  And lots of arguments between mathematicians.

So here’s a flower head.  Which may or may not have a pattern determined by a sequence of consecutive numbers, named after a 12C Italian mathematician.
