Lunch In Trastevere!
Famous last words as we left the hotel around 11 this morning, "I really don't want to eat a lot today, so perhaps we should skip lunch". By 1pm we were checking out menus!!!
We had wandered past quite a few restaurants when we came upon Enoteca which looked a bit trendy and different compared to the other restaurants, (touristy places with 2 course 9 Euro tourist menus with pictures in every language imaginable!). Always fashionable (ahem) it was like a magnet to us!
We sat down, being sure to place ourselves as far from the plinky plonk spa music as possible, and were brought menus. The menu covers were made of faux bark, LOL! Told you the place was trendy, and the table numbers were written on little lanterns.
As we "weren't hungry" we decided to just have antipasto. I chose an assortment of 6 different types of bruschetta, and Tom picked ricotta with peppers and pesto, and we also ordered the wine they suggested to pair it with and a bottle of water with gas. (I love that term!). When the food arrived it was like the "Little and Large" lunch, my gargantuan platter versus Tom's dainty little artfully decorated plate with a petit morceau of ricotta in the middle. Luckily we were sharing! The six types of bruschetta were the traditional tomato and basil, mozzarella and tomato, brie topped with pear and honey, grilled cheese and parma ham, mozzarella with sundried tomato and finally mashed eggplant (aubergine), which was our least favourite.
Stuffed full yet again, we managed to squeeze down a couple of capuccinos, but had to pass on the tiramisu :)
