Reward after a day's hard graft...
Today the summer finally seemed to arrive. It was warm and sunny and you could sit outside and enjoy a drink without wondering whether to nip in and put on your woollen long johns.
I cut most of the lawn, about 2000 sq meters, pruned some very spiky roses, and chopped down a few alder trees that were quietly popping up in corners of the garden.
This left me very sweaty and with a very large number of bites. Midges, mosquitoes and horse-flies were also happy that summer had finally got here and they all took the opportunity to get a bit of my blood.
A long shower seemed to reset my body so sweat and bites were forgotten and the home made “Best Bitter” made an appearance. It was lively and delicious, so delicious in fact that it went down quickly and a glass of stout followed it down.
Summer is wonderful and we do live in a nice place!
