Lonely Beach
After an early dinner at the best pizza place in Carlsbad, we walked a few blocks further from our motel and from the restaurant toward the shore. It was at least an hour from sunset, so we sat on a bench and just watched. We probably stayed 15 or 20 minutes just looking and enjoying the sound of the waves when Mr. Fun asked if we should begin to walk back. So I took a couple more photos (with my new camera) and then we were on our way.
We are north of San Diego, but south of Orange County. My Grammie Teele lived in Carlsbad when I was a youngster, so I feel very familiar with this lovely beach community; the past couple of years the two of us have enjoyed some wonderful leisure days here. Because we did not want to travel north through Los Angeles toward Ventura or Santa Barbara, we knew that our choices were Laguna, San Clemente, or Carlsbad. We chose the latter.
This has been a do-nothing day and we've enjoyed it immensely. We did stop at the Best Buy store to purchase a new camera for me. I accidentally dropped my little point-and-shoot into a glass of iced tea yesterday. What a mess! I put it in a bowl of rice all night, but that camera is never going to function properly. I am now the happy owner of a Panasonic DMC-ZS19. It is slightly larger than the previous camera, but it still fits in my Levi pocket, so I'm a happy blipper.
Good night from the shore of the Pacific Ocean.
