Taps and Drains

Had lunch today in Richmond with the lovely Neal and Sara.  We have been friends with Neal for many years.  Sadly a brain tumour in his 40s followed by a stroke has changed his life beyond recognition but his beautiful wife Sara is totally devoted to him and cares for him 24/7.  They are an amazing couple.

I shared a cheeky bottle of Prosecco with Sara today.  She is fighting a corner for carers and those who rely on them.  She has so much positive energy despite the difficulties in her life.  I am trully inspired. 

We tried to move Neal out of the sunshine into a shadier spot and I heard mutterings and comments from a woman sitting close to me.  She was being incredibly judgemental.  Sara talked about 'Taps and Drains' her experience of people around her and how they either gave her positivity or just drained it.   A bit of food for thought for all of us.

Thank you Neal and Sara for such a lovely afternoon.  I will always aspire to be a tap! x
