Blyth Fountain, Newport
Summer has arrived at last:-) What a glorious day it was, so took the chance to get out and about.
Met up with friend L. at Dundee's Discovery Point to view a photographic exhibition by a friend of hers and another photographer, who has a similar style. Enjoyed our lunch there just before hoards of children descended on the place.
Then it was over the Tay Bridge to Newport-on-Tay, where we just had to stop and admire this glorious structure sparkling in the sunshine. It is the Blyth Fountain, originally a drinking fountain gifted to the town by a prominent Victorian lady Mrs Blyth-Martin in 1882. It was refurbished in 2013, although it no longer functions as a fountain. See the Extra photos for a shot of the lovely interior too.
Then it was on to Balmerino Abbey, one of these places I've been meaning to visit and had never got round to. It did not disappoint and the ruins looked wonderful against a stunning blue sky. (See Extras). It was very peaceful, with just a few other visitors, so we sat on a bench and enjoyed the sunshine while we put the world to rights.
I finished the day off with a visit to my favourite farm shop, where I loaded up with supplies as we have a visitor arriving next week. Can we have some more days like this please?!!
P.S. If you have time, please have a look at yesterday's blip (uploaded today!) of a very pretty moth:-)
