Conjoined tomatoes!
Today I met up with my friend L who I've not seen for a while - in fact for far too long, so it was really wonderful catching up and sharing our news. We also managed to fit in some shopping - including buying jewellery and Molton Brown goodies!!!
Then I visited my sister P who'd found these conjoined tomatoes in the greenhouse today, definitely a talking point! I thought I'd include some tomato facts for you:
- they originated in Peru
- botanically, they're classified as a fruit not a vegetable
- whilst most are red, they can be green, yellow, orange, pink, black, brown, white and purple
- they are rich in an antioxidant and vitamins A and C, calcium, potassium and are better for you cooked not raw
- the record heaviest weighed 7lb 12 oz
- La Tomatina is a festival in Spain where 40,000 people throw 150,000 tomatoes at each other .......... now that would be a blip!!!
