There may be trouble ahead!
I was out this afternoon photographing the village community garden areas in advance of the judging next week. This is a close up of one of our wild areas that we planted mainly with poppies and corn marigolds Glebionis segetum.
On reflection this may have been a serious error of judgment. The corn marigold was such a serious weed during the 13th century in Scotland, that Alexander II passed a law stating that if a farmer allowed so much as a single plant to produce seed in amongst his crops, then he would be fined a sheep. We are concerned that the law may never have been repealed and we are clean out of sheep!
