Quiet Time

The frenzy of breeding season is long past and parental responsibilities are completed, so there is a mellow mood amongst the ducks at Lake Padden. 

Phil and I had some mellow time today as well -- after our yoga class, we parked the car near the library, and after picking up some books on hold for me, we walked to The Archer, the best pub in Fairhaven. It's been ages since we've been there, and after the good food and drink, comfortable seating, reasonable music, and excellent service we experienced this evening, we'll be returning in the near future. Our walk along the trail leading to Taylor Dock, stopping occasionally to pick wild blackberries, opened into a wide vista of Bellingham Bay. The Friday evening departure of the Alaska ferry made us momentarily long to be aboard on such a tranquil evening. Perhaps we'll make that trip sometime...
