Glen Affric and the Golden Retriever

This is Tomich Post Office outside which I stood for 7 hours directing traffic  having volunteered to help manage the 3000 vehicles driving into Glen Affric for todays orienteering event and giving my knees and ankle a rest from the gruelling Scottish terrain.

Along from the post office is a staute of a golden retriever to commemorate the creation of the breed by Lord Tweedmouth who crossed a wavy coated retriever with a Tweed water spaniel. The breed was recognised in 1911. People still make pilgrimages to stand in awe before the ruins of the Gusachan House in Glen Affric where Lord Tweedmouth lived , the ancestral home of this popular dog.
