Put me in coach
BJ was asked to coach Kaylee's softball team for tonight's competition against the Skowhegan team. Bruce had 8th grade graduation for his other daughter and would be unable to coach.
BJ did his homework... arriving home from work and setting out to make a plan for positions and batting line-up. He's played a pivotal role in assistant coaching since the begining and Bruce trusts his decisions.
The girls played an amazing game - not taking home the win, but holding a stellar Skowhegan team to 8 runs was a huge success in our books. (final 8-2). Proud parents cheered from the bleachers as our girls went down swinging; a huge improvement after the last game against Skowhegan, in which they all stood like statues at home plate. Their pitcher is fast - almost intimidatingly so.
Bribery in the forms of ice creams and cash for a hit, coupled with constant cheering supplied confidence in our team and we walked away proud of the way they played. BJ did a GREAT job as stand-in coach and I believe that next year, he'll, once again, play a major role in coaching.
